Since I'm literally quite new to the whole mugen scene and havnt figure out how to install Add004 yet. Would someone please be kind and help me out with maybe a quick video tutorial or a screenshot guide of the folder structure/placement and what to write in system.def?

I could offer money if someone needs encouragement :)
paypal a few beers maybe? I'm also on the discord @Monello if any prefer communicate there

Ps. at least screenshots would help a lot.

back up that bus there browski, now before you go fiddling with add004 I have a question. Do you use regular mugen aswell/are you familiar with how to add stuff and play regular mugen?

Your answer will determine which tutorial I throw at you first lol

Since I'm new to mugen I assume that I'm not using the regular Mugen. I'm playing this one exclusively: http://kof-anthology.blogspot.com/ but also have a lifebar Mod I think its called M3.

the problem is and whats really gets me confused is that some claims just drag the system.def from your preferred screenpack into the /data/add004/ folder but theres already a system.def in there. and with this I dont know what to do:

meh, dun mention it man.
We don't take ppls money in our community.
It kinda defeats the purpose of mugen being free.
The catch22 is that sadly you have to do some reading and study on how to use mugen first.

And if you are new I would suggest you back up a bit and start from scratch.
Dont start with an existing mugen, you should start with vanilla mugen and learn the basics.

- Learn how to configure mugen via the mugen.cfg file.
- Learn how to add content
- learn how to edit the mugen .def files
- and learn about the file structure

you should ask for a dude called Oldgamer that posts here sometimes.
He does mugen tutorials live on youtube for people.
He also has videos on his channel to help you get started.

But in the meantime go here and watch all these.

well first of, I appreciate the philosophy about Mugen should be free, but that wasnt the case, the thing was I was willing to show my appreciation to someone that spend a few minutes of guide me and in return offer a couple of beers back in return to show my appreciation but never mind.

Well I add stages and characters on regular basic but add004on literally comes with zero instructions except drag all the files to your Mugen folder. but after that your on your own.

back to square1, but thanks for your time

Did the Add004 video tutorials not help?

Basically to explain it the best way I can, you need to modify the system.def file fields that point to specific files on your mugen screenpack.

The fight.def
the fightfx.def
the fonts ecetera.
So basically you are merging add004 with your existing game.
But if you dont know how to modify system.def files in this way, then you should probably watch screenpack tutorials instead.

But otherwise, there is a user that OP mentioned above that will probably video guide you if you ask him. He's on our discord.

ok Finally manage to got Add004 to work with the awesome MM2 MUGEN Match 2.1 by Tatsu.
Only problem now running the 004.bat I cant get the key input to show even if I uncomment it in the common1.

Thats weird. Is everything else working though.
It should work if u set up properly.
Make a video of watch mode in your moojins.
Need to see what the other add004 stuff be doing on screen first.
Can be just a 30 sec video of a 6 hit combo or something.
Thats enough to check if u set it up properly

Thanks everyone for your time and effort in guiding me in the right direction. Finally succeded to get it working. Now I'm just need to try figure out how to change all necessary .def files into localcoords or whats it called to work with my standard resolution 1920*1080px

Well the good news with that is that there's is one important piece of advice we can give you here that you will very much be unlikely to find on any other mugen forum or tutorial for that.

If you are using widecreen native localcoords of 854x480/1280x720/1920x1080, you need to update ALL of your character localcoords in their .def file also to ensure they scale correctly in that resolution.

The localcord you need to use on your characters is 426.66,320.25 and nothing else.
That will ensure your characters do not appear oversized on screen and are scaled correctly for those resolutions.

ok thanks, but the characters are fine, what’s oversized/scaled up when I choose the fight1080p.def is the Gfx in general, text overlays and lifebar. Can’t provide any screenshot since my mugen seems to save SS all Black.

How do I get around this?

make sure you are using the file called fight_1080p.def.

Its in the folder:

data\add004_bs0\res.

theres an option like this:
